The Waitaki Multicultural Family Connect group had the privilege of hosting Jason Evered, Community Engagement Officer at the Waitaki District Council, as part of our monthly guest speaker series.

Jason delivered an engaging and easy-to-understand session on voting, local elections, and how the democratic process works in New Zealand. For many of the families who attended, especially those new to Aotearoa, it was their very first introduction to voting here. His clear explanations and practical insights helped make what can sometimes feel like a complex topic accessible and welcoming.

A heartfelt thank you to Jason for sharing his time, expertise, and warm approach. His visit helped empower our community to better understand their new home and feel confident about participating in local civic life.
